History of Russia: Exhibition “Far away, in the deep rear… the Irkutsk region during the Great Patriotic War” in Moscow

The Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow on June 19, 2014 hosts the exhibition “Far away, in the deep rear…the Irkutsk region during the Great Patriotic War”. The exhibition features 94 original items and more than 150 photographs and documents from the collection of the Irkutsk Regional Local Lore Museum. The exhibition is held in conjunction with the regional branch of the Russian Military-Historical Museum.

Visitors will learn about the thematic section: “June 1941 in the life of the Irkutsk region”, “Industrial enterprises of the Irkutsk region during the War”, “Route of "Route of aviation "Alaska-Siberia", "Agriculture from the period of the war", "Medicine and military hospitals in the Irkutsk Region", "Culture of the Irkutsk region during the war", "Children of the last war", "Irkutsk people in the Great Patriotic War", "May 9, 1945 in Irkutsk", "Working with Great Patriotic War veterans in Irkutsk region at the present stage. Veterans' organizations", "search groups of the Irkutsk region".

"The Irkutsk Regional Museum is a lot of work in preparation for the 70th anniversary of the Victory. Today our exhibition is first presented at Poklonnaya Hill, and next year it will be shown to Irkutsk citizens and visitors to our city", - said the director of the Irkutsk Regional Museum Dmitry Lyustritsky.
