Russian President: Vladimir Putin advised to easy public access to the books

Last week Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a list of instructions that came out of a joint meeting of the State Council and the Council for Culture and the Arts on 24 December 2014. Approved at the same day document document entitled "The State Cultural Policy Fundamentals" was represented at the meeting.

According to the list, the Russian government conjointly with the Administration of the President of Russia in demand to implement the essentials of state cultural policy have received a few key assignments, such as: to submit a concept of the strategy for state cultural policy, the proposals on bringing the legislation of the Russian Federation in accordance with the objectives of national cultural policy, the proposals to improve the management of public cultural policies, and so on.

Among the specific recommendations to the executive authorities of the Russian Federation, the two are directly related to books and reading:

- To get books and periodicals freely accessible for public (before 1 July 2015);

- To contribute into socially-oriented events, organized by the book traders, advancing the best pieces of Russian and foreign literature and popularization of reading (before October 1, 2015).
