Memorable dates of Russia: Exhibitions, timed to the 220th birth anniversary of A. S. Griboyedov, in Arkhangelsk

In the N. A. Dobrolyubov Arkhangelsk Regional Scientific Library opened an exhibition to mark the 220th birth anniversary of the poet, dramatist, diplomat Alexander Sergeyevich Griboyedov (1795-1829).

The exhibition “The mind and thy works are immortal…” is a book dedicated to the life and work of Griboyedov. His main creation - is immortal comedy "Woe from Wit" (1824). Griboyedov created comedy "Young wife" (translation of the play by French poet C. de Lesser "Family secrets, 1815)", Student"(1817) "A sham infidelity" (1818), "Its a family, or married bride" (1817), the tragedy of "Georgian night" (1827), numerous articles, essays and reviews. Griboyedov had a great musical gift and wrote two wonderful waltz.

The exhibition presents three-volume collection of works by Griboyedov, as well as separate editions of his works. Section of the exhibition, devoted to the comedy "Woe from Wit", contains the edition of this play different years - from the middle of the XIX century to the end of XX - beginning of XXI century.

It also demonstrates the exhibition of the series "The Story of One Book", where visitors can see a miniature edition of the comedy "Woe from Wit" in 1839 (the size of the book 100/63 mm), released 10 years after the tragic death of Griboyedov.

This is the second edition of the well-known works. In 1839 its cost was 5 rubles, which was quite expensive for that time. However, the book quickly dispersed among the population. The publication has become very rare in the second half of the XIX century.
