The Kislovodsk Museum of Local History "Fortress" on February 13, 2015 opens the exhibition "A. P. Chekhov in the Caucasus", dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the Great Russian writer.

In general, the writer first traveled through the Caucasus in July 1888. And this trip has left a lasting impression. He wrote: "The nature is amazing to fury and despair… Everything is new, fabulously silly and poetic… and most importantly - the mountains, hills and mountains, with no end and edge…".

A rightful place in the exhibition takes views of the city depicted on postcards of late XIX - early XX century and the first photographs of the outstanding photographer Kavminvod, expert of the Caucasus Lermontov researcher, botany G. I. Rayev, awarded gold medals for photographic exhibitions in Paris, Cairo, Brussels.

The new exposition presents a bottle of medicine, medical instruments of doctors practicing in Kislovodsk in the late XIX century.

The exhibition contains materials reflecting the biography of a prominent Russian classic.

A special place takes photos of the main Chekhov's museums in the country: the branch of the house-museum of Anton Chekhov in Taganrog, where the birthplace of the future writer was, the Moscow apartment, located in a private house on Sadovaya-Kudrino. It is also presented in the project the State Literary and Memorial Museum Reserve of A. P. Chekhov in Melikhovo, which holds manuscripts, personal belongings of the writer, books, photographs, furniture, graphic materials, paintings - friends of the writer: I. Levitan, V. Polenov, N. Chekhov and others.

A decoration for any exhibition devoted to the great writer and playwright A. P. Chekhov is, above all, a rich artistic heritage. Here is matched a filing of periodicals, books from the series "School Library", "Children's Library", copies of the complete works of a number of books by different authors on the life and works of Anton P. Chekhov.
