To the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory: “To the Defenders of the Fatherland…” in Bryansk

The exhibition “To the Defenders of the Fatherland…” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945, opened in the Bryansk Regional Art Museum and Exhibition Center. The exposition features painting, graphics and sculpture from the museum collection.

In the halls of the exposition as if in heroic pages of the Great Patriotic War – from its tragic beginning, revealed in the work of N. I. Oboznenko “The first days of war. Summer 1941” until the infamous complete for Hitler people, depicted in the painting of P. A. Chernyshevsky “Capture of the Reichstag”.

Authors of most of the works are artists of the war generation. Painted after the war the paintings are imbued with a sense of historical significance of Victory, achieved by incredible price. Over the years, they increasingly find strength of authentic historical document, full of drama content.  

The artists in their canvases reveal human characters, dramatic and heroic fates, difficulties, facing the country, human misery and suffering. All presented works at the exhibition – a grateful memory of those who by their courage and fortitude brought Victory Day and the long-awaited peace.

The exhibition runs until March 3, 2015.
