History and culture: “Tsar Days” started in Yekaterinburg in memory of Nicholas II’s family

 “Tsar Days” and Days of Mercy “White Flower” – annual events dedicated to the last Russian emperor Nicholas II and members of his family, which this year will be held from July 10 to July 20 in Yekaterinburg and Alapaevsk.

According to the Synodal Department, July 16, the clergy and the citizens will go a procession through the historic path of the arrival of the royal family in Yekaterinburg - the station Shartash to the Church on the Spilled Blood. Then, on the night of 16 to 17 July in the Memorial Church liturgy will be made, after which, according to tradition, will take place a 20-kilometer "royal procession" to the monastery of the Royal Martyrs at Ganina pit, hosted on the site of the destruction of the bodies of the saints.

Also this year, one of the highlights of the cultural program will be an exhibition "The Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich and Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna in the mirror of Russian media. 1884-1905", which will be opened in the courtyard of the patriarchal archdiocese in Yekaterinburg on July 15 and will last until August 30. The exposition will include not only rare photos but also original materials of the periodical press of the time, which reflect the bright events of private and public life of the spouses.

On the same day, July 15, in Yekaterinburg will be started a scientific conference "Holy Russian princess: from Olga to St. Elizabeth", which will be attended by leading Russian historians. Presentations will focus on the women, who played an important role in the history of Russia, which are at different levels of their position, and who dedicated their lives to the service of one's neighbor and the Church.
