1 September 2015

September 1, the President met with students of the Sirius educational centre for gifted children, which was established at the President’s initiative using the Sochi Olympic infrastructure.

The centre’s goals include early detection, development and further professional training of talented secondary school students who have shown an aptitude to natural sciences, arts, sports or technical creativity.

Some 600 children aged between 10 and 17 come to Sirius from various parts of Russia every month. They are being taught by leading teachers from schools specialising in sports, physics and mathematics, chemistry and biology, and by prominent Russia artists.

Vladimir Putin attended a gala concert to mark the start of the new school year, learned about the development concept for one of Sirius’ elements – the City of the Future educational and recreation centre located in the Olympic Park. The President also saw a project of the general education school for gifted children.

In the country's history there were tragic pages. Lessons unrest, revolution, civil war warning as harmful to Russia any splits, convinced that only the unity of the people and social harmony can lead to success, to ensure the independence of the state, to help repulse any powerful and treacherous enemy…

In front of each generation are always their main task… you have to… solve more complex problems, answer difficult, as they say, challenges. And you must be prepared for this. The power advantage of your generation - in unblinkered, the ability to think freely, to offer innovative solutions… We see you are not outside observers, we see you in the direct participants in building the future of the country where you live and where your children will…

Russia has repeatedly demonstrated its leadership in science, art, sports, and, first of all, because people set themselves ambitious goals, sought to do the impossible, despite all the difficulties, go to victory. It is necessary to dream, to build ambitious plans to do more, to do what before you did not do by anybody. This is the most difficult, but it keeps the progress, the development, moving forward".
