The opening ceremony of the Year of Cinema in Russia is planned to pool together with the official closing of the Year of Literature in Russia, according to Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinskiy.

This year in Russia is declared the Year of Literature, and the 2016th will be the Year of Cinema.

“Since the movies are produced on a base of literature, the scripts, literally on the words, it seems to me that it would be quite reasonable to symbolically combine the closing of the Year of Literature and the opening of the Year of Cinema in Russia", - said V. Medinskiy.

He noted that the organizing committee of the Year of Cinema has not yet been determined, but the events selection is already going on. "We will do everything we can to make the Year of Cinema remarkable for our viewers and important decisions aimed at supporting the national cinema were taken", - the minister added.
