Information technology and museums: The Vatican Museums presented virtual tour through its collection

Vatican Museums released a series of DVD-ROM drive, which you can use to make a sightseeing tour across the Vatican collection.

The set consists of 6 CDs, telling about the masterpieces of the Vatican Museums in the Italian language, named «Musei del Papa».

The tour includes familiarity with the art collection of Vatican - from the era of the ancient classics and objects from the Etruscan collection to works by contemporary artists.

Antonio Paolucci, director of the Vatican Museums, notes that the DVD set allows you to see masterpieces from the collection of papal those who cannot physically visit the Vatican Museums.

Vatican Museums include more than three miles of corridors, rooms and galleries, Paolucci explains. According to him, the collection is sometimes placed too closely next to each other. DVD-tour eliminates the risk of accidental passing by an important collection.
