Libraries and society: The Scientific-Practical Conference “The provincial library: new format” in Tambov

18-20 November 2015 is held the Scientific-practical conference "The provincial library: new format", timed to the 185th anniversary of the Tambov Public Library (now the A. S. Pushkin Tambov Regional Universal Scientific Library) and are intended to identify features of the historical and modern development of public libraries in Russia.

The conference was organized by the Pushkin Library together with the Presidential Library, the Tambov region administration and the Department of Culture and Archives of the Tambov region.

The forum is held within the framework of the agreement signed between the Tambov region and the Presidential Library, and its theme is consistent with the objectives for the development of a network of regional centers of access to its resources.

The conference is held with the aim of determining the most effective forms of work of all departments of the library, experts in the rapidly developing society, competition information Internet space, increased demand and expectations of users. 

The purpose of the conference: the formation of innovative trends in information, education and intellectual and leisure activities of libraries of the Russian Federation in the conditions of implementation of the standard model of public libraries.

Purposes of the conference:

1. To analyze the historical development of public libraries of Russia;

2. To consider new forms of work to attract users;

3. To explore innovative methods of service of all categories of users;

4. To carry out the exchange of experience in all areas of the library;

5. To conduct business training with specialists of library sphere;

6. To discuss the importance of forward planning of joint activities with national libraries of Russia.
