Memorable dates of Russia: The exhibition, timed to the 125th anniversary of Osip Mandelstam, in Moscow

The State Literary Museum (Moscow), 24 December 2015 opens the exhibition "I'll tell you with the latest frankness…" timed to the 125th anniversary of Osip Mandelstam. The project, an unprecedented in the number of exhibits and the number of museums and archives, participating in the creation of the exhibition, presents portraits and photographs of Mandelstam and his entourage, autographs, documents, lifetime editions, books with inscripts, manuscripts of the writer. Materials can be seen as the original, and can be browsed with the help of multimedia screens.  

The exhibition "I'll tell you with the latest candor frankness…" - the result of years of work on the study of creativity and the biography of Osip Mandelstam. Here you can find previously unknown facts of the author's life, again to see the country's history through the prism of a lyrical view of sensitive poet, and even to witness the birth of religious texts "Leningrad", "Slate Ode" and others. The highlight of the exhibition will be a unique experience of multimedia reconstruction of the work of Mandelstam on manuscripts that will be shown by the movement of creative thought of the author.

Visitors can see photos of Osip Mandelstam and his family, species of important for the poet places, portraits by V. Milashevsky, E. Kruglikova, A. Osmyorkin, original autographs, posters of performances, the first editions of books "Stone", "The Noise of Time", "The Egyptian Brand" and others.

Each of the rooms of the exhibition is dedicated to one of the periods of the poet's life. The first room - a chronicle of life of Mandelstam, his family and entourage since 1910s, before the October Revolution. The second hall is dedicated to the poet's travels during the Civil War: in those years, the author has created the most important collections of poetry and prose books. The third hall tells about the last period of the author's life - from his arrest in 1934 until his death in the camp in 1938. Particular attention is paid to the stay of Mandelstam in Voronezh. The last room of the exhibition tells the posthumous fate of the creative heritage and the archive of the poet and of the role of Nadezhda Mandelstam in its preservation.

The exhibition will run until March 27, 2016.
