Internet and history: The virtual exhibition "Generation of volunteers. The feat of youth during the Great Patriotic War" is opened on the website of the Main Archival Administration in Moscow

June 22, 2017 on the website of the Main Archival Administration of Moscow a virtual exhibition "Generation of volunteers. The feat of youth duirng the Great Patriotic War" is opened. It is timed to the Day of Memory and Sorrow. Materials from the funds of the Central State Archives of Moscow, united in thematic sections, affect the role of the younger generation in the struggle against the Hitlerite invaders.  

The first section of the exhibition contains documents of the prewar period that reflect the moral character of young people brought up on the examples of exploits of Arctic explorers and pilots - the first heroes of the Soviet Union, metrostroevtsy and Stakhanovite workers, as well as on films about Alexander Nevsky, Kuzma Minin and Dmitri Pozharsky, Alexander Suvorov, Vasily Chapaev. A special place at the exhibition is occupied by documents of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. Patriotism is also told by photographs of recruits in military registration and enlistment offices, questionnaires, statements, lists and summonses of mobilization to the army and the people's militia.

The central part of the exposition is individual novels, narrating about the exploits of the heroes of the Soviet Union. Letters, memoirs, reward sheets, photos will be introduced to the sniper Natalia Kovshova, the machine-gunner Yuri Kostikov, the pilot Ivan Dokukin, the navigator Yevgeny Balashov and many others. These heroes are Komsomol members who were awarded high rank for feats committed during the Battle of Moscow, during the strategic operations at Stalingrad, on the Kursk Bulge, forcing the Dnieper, the liberation of the peoples of Europe, during the storming of the Reichstag.
