Round table "Stalingrad: Chronicle of Victory" in Penza

On May 11 a round table "Stalingrad and Kursk battles: a radical turn in the Great Patriotic War" was held at the V. G. Belinsky Pedagogical Institute of the Penza State University timed to the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Stalingrad and Kursk battles.

The event was organized by the Department of the General History of Social Studies of the History and Philology Faculty of the V. G. Belinsky Pedagogical Institute in conjunction with the Penza Regional Branch of the Russian Military Historical Society.

An employee of the regional center of the Presidential Library, acting on the basis of the M. Y. Lermontov Penza Regional Library, introduced the participants to the digital content of the Presidential Library portal.

Much attention was paid to the collection "Memory of the Great Victory", where in the section "The Power of Russian Arms: Combat Operations during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" materials were collected about the Battle of Stalingrad: official documents, scientific publications, combat operations maps, photos, newsreels, wartime newspapers, books, publications of agitation and propaganda nature, collections of articles, biographies, testimonies of combatants and workers of the home front, their personal documents, images of combat and labor awards, monuments memorial complexes. Special attention was paid to the documentary film "The Next Goal is Stalingrad" where A. V. Isaev, Russian military historian, presents his views on the events of the Battle of Stalingrad on the basis of declassified materials from National and Foreign archives.

On the website of the Presidential Library the Penza Region is represented by the collection "Penza Region: Pages of History". The collection includes archival documents, essays, studies and statistical materials covering the demographic, geographic, socioeconomic, socio-political and other aspects of the history of the Penza region at the end of the XVIII century and the first third of the XX century. The current charter of the region is also presented.
