British schoolgirls visited the Russian Center of Science and Culture in London

The Russian Center of Science and Culture in London hosted a meeting with pupils of the British private school for girls by James Allen ("James Allen's Girls' School"), studying the Russian language.

The schoolgirls received a unique chance to learn more about Russia and the opportunities for training in Russian universities personally from the representative of Rossotrudnichestvo Anton Chesnokov. He spoke about the work of the portal "Studying in Russia", general and special programs, the advantages of studying in Russian educational institutions and noted the importance of learning the language for understanding the rich cultural heritage of the country. The representative of Rossotrudnichestvo also discussed with the guests how the FIFA World Cup is being held in Russia.

During the meeting, Art History PhD Oksana Sekacheva told about the Russian clay toy - the history of appearance, the tradition of making, the peculiarities of local color and form, the symbolism of the figures. The best examples of Filimonovo, Dymkovo, Abashevo, Kargopol, Khludnev, and Tula city toys were presented. British children had the opportunity to see the birth of a clay figure in the process of the master class and, repeating the technique of modeling and painting, create their own.

In memory of a visit to the Rossotrudnichestvo office in London, British schoolgirls received books on outstanding Russian figures and souvenirs with the symbols of the passing FIFA World Cup.

"James Allen's Girls' School" is one of the oldest private schools in London. At the moment the Russian language is being studied by 38 pupils.

The Presidential Library portal features electronic collection "Russian language". It includes manuscripts and publications of monuments of Russian writing, archival affairs, research papers (including dissertations and thesis), dictionaries and reference books, textbooks of various types and levels. The digital collection "Russian language" will be of interest not only to the academic community and linguists, but also to a wide range of users who love and appreciate the Russian language.
