Completion of the best FIFA World Cup was celebrated in London

On Sunday, the capital's stadium "Luzhniki" hosted the final of the XXI Football World Cup. In the dramatic final, the French team defeated the Croatian team 4:2 and for the second time in its history became the winner of the world championship.

For five weeks of the FIFA World Cup, the Russian Fan House in the Rossotrudnichestvo office in London received more than 3,000 guests.

The closing ceremony was attended by representatives of the Russian embassy in Great Britain, Rossotrudnichestvo, friendship society “Forum Westminster Russia”, associations of fans and organizations of compatriots. As part of the event, the results of the World Cup in Russia were presented.

Fan House in London is designed to dispel many stereotypes and contribute to increasing motivation for studying Russia. The British got the opportunity not only to watch football, but also to learn more about our country: about the way of life of Russians, about rich culture, about tourist destinations.

The Presidential Library portal features electronic collection "Sport in Russia". The collection includes official documents, archive materials, studies, educational literature, reference and visual materials, periodicals reflecting the history of the development of sport in our country. Particularly highlighted section is devoted to football. The creation of this section is timed to the holding of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The section includes both historical and modern materials. In particular, the photographs depicting the construction of stadiums in Russian cities hosting matches of the world championship are widely represented.
