The Presidential Library and the Friendship Center of Leningrad Region to develop cooperation
Projects in the field of culture, tourism and education, peace and harmony in our multinational country will be jointly developed by the Presidential Library and the Friendship Center of Leningrad Region. This was announced today, September 7, 2018, during the signing of an agreement on cooperation between the two institutions.
According to acting head of the Friendship Center Vladimir Mikhailenko, today Leningrad Region is among the regions where the state program for the peacekeeping between nations, numbering 140, has been successfully implemented. "The signing of the cooperation agreement with the Presidential Library gives us an incentive for more effective work in the field national policy, while not only in Leningrad region, but also far beyond its borders", - said Mikhailenko.
Acting Director General of the Presidential Library Valentin Sidorin recalled that in 2014 an agreement with Leningrad Region was signed. During this time, many joint projects in the field of education, culture, tourism, ecology and others have been implemented. According to Valentin Sidorin, the agreement with the Friendship Center will be another stage in the development of cooperation with the region.
According to the signed document, the main goal of joint activity is the formation of a common information space in the field of history, theory and practice of Russian statehood and the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation.
The key point of the agreement is cooperation on the promotion of new projects in the field of education and educational activities, preservation of cultural heritage. It will be aimed at the patriotic and civic education of the younger generation, the education of a culture of interethnic communication, respect for the national dignity of citizens, spiritual and moral values of the peoples of Russia. The main goal of academic conferences, seminars, working meetings and other jointly organized events should be the formation of young people's solid knowledge of the history, culture, traditions of nationalities living in our country.
The Friendship Center of the Peoples of Leningrad Region was established by order of the regional government in 2014 and is under the jurisdiction of the regional committee for local self-government, interethnic and interfaith relations. Its activities are aimed at strengthening civil unity, interethnic and inter-religious harmony, preserving the ethno-cultural diversity of the peoples of the Russian Federation residing on the territory of the 47th region. The Friendship Center of Peoples closely interacts with authorities, councils on interethnic relations of municipal districts, social protection and migration policy institutions, culture, education, youth policy, sports, health, educational institutions, as well as with other organizations participating in national unity.
