Sergey Garmash read over Hoffmann's Christmas Tale at the Presidential Library

When the guests go home, the toys on the Christmas tree begin to quietly ring, sparkle and take on life ... A beautiful tale of love and courage in the Presidential Library was performed by Sergey Garmash. "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by E.-T.-A. Hoffman enters the treasury of the best pre-Christmas fantasies of all times and peoples.

“Well, my friends, now you will hear the fairy tale about the Nutcracker and the Mouse King”, - the actor slowly began to narrate, and the audience plunged into the atmosphere of a fairy tale.

People's Artist of Russia Sergey Garmash is one of the most recognizable actors of our time. The public loves even his minor roles. Garmash was awarded the “Golden Eagle”, “Golden Aries”, “The Seagull”, “Nika” awards, and the Order of Merit for the Republic of Poland. Wide popularity came to him after the roles of captain in the film "Voroshilovsky shooter" and major in the series "Kamenskaya". On the film site, he worked with the most famous directors: Andrzej Wajda, Stanislav Govorukhin, Sergey Bodrov, Sergey Solovyov, Vladimir Khotinenko, Nikita Mikhalkov, Valery Todorovsky, Timur Bekmambetov. Sergey Garmash is an actor of the Sovremennik Theater. There he played many brilliant roles in such performances as “The Cherry Orchard”, “Three Comrades”, “Once Again about the Naked King”, “Five Evenings” and others.

In a short interview in the intermission Garmash told about modern authors he prefers The artist, who played in many classical productions, said: “Any profession has a“ homework ”: reading and constant observation of people, their plastics, habits, reprimand, dialect. This is where the actor begins. Today I read over the prose writers such as Anna Kozlova, Alexei Ivanov and my favorite Italian contemporaries — there is something consonant in our common perception of reality”.

The reading was accompanied by a symphony orchestra directed by Honored Artist of Russia Sergey Slovachevsky. That evening, the director, one of the best cellists in Russia, also performed solo. Sergey plays a rare instrument - the Italian cello of 1730 by J.B.Zanoli.

The evening was filled with the magic of words, music and dance. A Christmas story of love and devotion unfolded to the beautiful music of Tchaikovsky from the ballet "The Nutcracker", "Swan Lake", "Sleeping Beauty". The evening was admired with the performance of the young students of the Parade Ballet studio, which was founded by the premieres of the Mikhailovsky Theater of the Honored Artist of Russia Irina Perren and Marat Shemiunov.

Festival mistress Honored Artist of Russia Maria Safaryants performed the violin solo. The gala show was completed by the magnificent performance of the People’s Artist of Russia by the Mariinsky Theater soloist Alexandra Iosifidi

This evening, the beautiful hall on Senate Square, 3 has become the place where Christmas extravaganza brought together all generations. Adults found a philosophical background in the fairy tale but the children were fascinated by the magic that was happening in front of them.
