On June 18, 2019, employees of the Penza Regional Center of Access to the Resources of the Presidential Library held a quiz “Backstage surprises” for children from the children's camp of school № 68.

The librarians told pupils about the Presidential Library’s collections, which contain a lot of materials on the history of the theater. The children learned that the first chronicle mention of folk artists dates back to 1037, and that strolling actors were called sturgeons before Russia in the 18th century, and bear fun is considered to be one of the most ancient folk entertainments. The children learned about the content and diversity of the ancient Russian theatrical traditions from the book “The Theater of Pre-Peter the Great Rus’: Public Lecture by A. S. Arkhangelsky”, a digital copy of which is available on the Presidential Library’s portal.

In the course of the game, the guys showed their acting skills, read an excerpt from K. Chukovsky's Boldly Buzzing Fly poem. In the intermission, elementary school pupils performed choreographic etudes to the music from famous cartoons. At the end of the event, schoolchildren presented themselves as theater artists and created posters for children's performances.
