Residents of Argentina were told about the history of the Russian Orthodox Icon

3 August 2020

Marking the year of the 660th anniversary of the birth of the Russian icon painter Andrei Rublev and on the Day of Christianization of Rus’, the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Buenos Aires organized an online meeting with the artist, master of icon painting Natalia Gorchakova, a descendant of the famous Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Empire Alexander Mikhailovich Gorchakov.

The digital collections of the Presidential Library include a large number of materials about the Russian Orthodox Church, from which thematic collections are formed. For example, the portal features the collection "History of the Russian Orthodox Church", which includes fundamental works of significant church figures and church historians; the collection “Orthodox Russia. Monasteries and Icons” presents materials of the XIX - early XX century, spotlighting the history of individual Orthodox monasteries and especially revered icons.

Only part of the unique digitized materials is posted on the Presidential Library’s portal and in the remote electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library located in different countries.
