The Presidential Library honored Alexander Pushkin’s memory

February 10, 2021, on the day of the death of the great poet, the annual conference and webinar "Alexander Pushkin’s Memorial Day" was held at the Presidential Library. The event was broadcasted live on the library's portal, in the official group on the VKontakte social network and on the institution's YouTube channel.

The main goal of the traditional conference and webinar was to preserve the memory of Alexander Pushkin’s life and career, to attract interest to his personality, to promote the heritage of the classic of Russian literature.

“Pushkin has become our national code, he connected everyone who speaks and thinks in Russian”, - Margarita Rusetskaya, rector of the Pushkin State Institute of the Russian Language, emphasized and expressed confidence that cooperation between the State Institute of the Russian Language and The Presidential Library will develop and will serve the implementation of new interesting projects on the theme of the Pushkin Code.

The program of the conference and webinar included an interview-session "St. Petersburg - Moscow: A Word about Pushkin" and a thematic session "Pushkin Winters".

The conference participants were expected to speak by specialists from renowned museums, libraries and other cultural institutions. They were devoted to a variety of topics: the last year of the poet's life, Pushkin's nanny Arina Rodionovna and his wife Natalia Goncharova, the novel "Eugene Onegin", the classic's connection with Trans-Baikal Territory and etc.

The audience was also told about the "Pushkin-digital" project and the All-Russian contest of research, design and creative works "You, as a first love, Russia's heart will not forget...". And, of course, on this day, the poems of the great poet will be performed within the walls of the Presidential Library.

The library's collections and portal contain a large number of materials illustrating the life and career of the classic of Russian literature, some of which are available in the electronic collection Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837).

It includes digital copies of books, articles, archival documents, abstracts, dissertations, video works, postcards, drawings and paintings depicting the poet and people of his circle. A significant place in the collection belongs to articles from pre-revolutionary periodicals, which provide different attitude towards Pushkin and his career over time.
