The Presidential Library considered the contribution of scientist Pyotr Draganov to world science

March 23, 2021, the Presidential Library hosted a video lecture entitled "Pyotr Draganov - Scientist, Bibliographer, Teacher" as part of the Knowledge of Russia project.

Pyotr Draganov (1857–1928) is one of the most successful specialists in the history and philology of the South Slavs. The main work of the researcher is the universal bibliographic index Bessarabiana, issued in 1911. It features books, articles, manuscripts in various languages on the history of Bessarabia, published within a century.

The video lecture was part of the cooperation program of the Presidential Library and the Pyotr Draganov Central Library of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (Comrat, the capital of ATUG, Republic of Moldova).

The event was available for anyone. The meeting was held remotely and broadcasted live on the Presidential Library's portal in the Live broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events, on the institution's YouTube channel and the VKontakte social network.

A welcoming speech was delivered by Maria Semyonova, the Head of the Main Department of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. Then the Chief Librarian of the Central Library of Gagauzia Evgenia Lyulenova and Senior Researcher of the Scientific Research Centre of Gagauzia Pyotr Pashaly talked about life and career of Pyotr Draganov and the significance of his Bessarabiana to the world scientific community.

One of the main directions of the Presidential Library's activities is the digital preservation of the most important documents on the history, theory and practice of Russian statehood. The volume of the institution's electronic collections today is more than a million items, including the materials about Pyotr Draganov. Thus, the institution's electronic reading room provides access to the Macedonian-Slavic Collection with a Dictionary by Pyotr Draganov.
