2 June 2021

First-graders of the Penza school No. 64 visited the Regional Center of Access to the Presidential Library's resources based on the Lermontov Penza Regional Library.

The library specialists told children about the history of the theater, how it operates, what professions it includes. Particular attention was paid to the discussion of the duties of a director, prompter, make-up artist, props and decorator, thanks to which performances are created.

The children were also told about the Presidential Library’s portal, which presents materials on the development of dramatic art in Russia. For example, the book History of the Russian Theater features a copy of the decree on the establishment in St. Petersburg of the state "Russian for the presentation of tragedies and comedies of the public theater", which was signed by Empress Elizabeth Petrovna in 1756.

On the same day the Penza regional center of the Presidential Library was visited by students of the second grade of school No. 64. Interactive event dedicated to the history of the development of writing, printing and librarianship was held for them. After examining the pages of several digitized alphabet letters and alphabet from the Presidential Library’s collections, the children took part in the game "Living Drop Caps" and the letters had to be depicted in a mirror image, like letters for a printing press.

The collection Penza Region: Pages of History is available on the Presidential Library’s portal. It includes archival documents, essays, studies and statistical materials covering demographic, geographical, socio-economic, socio-political and other aspects of the history of Penza Region at the end of the 18th - first third of the 20th century.
