The Presidential Library develops cooperation with the Ural Federal District

On June 16, 2022, a cooperation agreement between the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Urals Federal District and the Presidential Library was signed at the XXV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The document was signed by the Plenipotentiary of the President in the Ural Federal District Vladimir Yakushev and Acting Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov.

The parties agreed to join efforts to form an information space that would help strengthen patriotism, spiritual and moral values, preserve historical memory, and counter the falsification of history.

“The cooperation agreement that we signed with the Presidential Library will launch the active development of information resource access centers in the regions of the Urals Federal District. These are new opportunities for residents of both cities and small towns to study and learn the history and culture of our great country in a modern format. And what is especially important is access to reliable, maximally truthful and objective content”, emphasized Vladimir Yakushev.

One of the key points of the agreement is the support of scientific, information and analytical, cultural and educational activities in the field of history, theory and practice of Russian statehood, the Russian language as the state language of Russia using the potential of information resources of the Presidential Library in the Urals Federal District. Particular attention will be paid to the development of cooperation with higher educational institutions, the creation and replication of exhibition projects based on the Presidential Library’s materials, including those on the subject of World War II. 

The document also provides for the development of regional centers of the Presidential Library. It should be noted that the Urals Federal District is the first and so far the only district in the Russian Federation, where regional centers of the Presidential Library are opened in all six subjects. Lectures, round tables and meetings are regularly held on their basis, aimed at preserving historical memory and strengthening spiritual and moral values.

The expansion of the network of remote access centers will open up new opportunities for residents of both large cities and small towns. It is planned to open new, as well as modernize existing centers of remote access to the information resources of the library. At the moment, over 500 electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library have been opened in the Urals Federal District.

It is planned to strengthen partnerships with fund-holding organizations of the Ural Federal District. This will make it possible to present information of state, historical and cultural value in the Presidential Library's collections. 

The document emphasizes the need to involve, including as a co-organizer of socio-political, scientific, cultural, educational events both at the district level and individual entities that make up it, a branch of the Presidential Library located in Tyumen.

The branch has been opened at the Mendeleev Tyumen Regional Scientific Library since 2011. It should be noted that in 2007 Vladimir Yakushev, at that time the governor of Tyumen Region, was a member of the working group on the creation of the Presidential Library. 

The cooperation agreement signed at the XXV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is of an indefinite nature, and this gives confidence that the joint work will be implemented consistently and efficiently.
