Specialists of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Lermontov Penza Regional Library held an educational event for senior pupils of school № 68. The meeting marked the 155th anniversary of Maxim Gorky.

At the event the children were told about the difficult fate of the Russian writer, playwright and public figure, whose works have been translated into many languages and published in huge editions, and the author himself was nominated five times for the Nobel Prize in Literature.

In addition, schoolchildren learned about the resources of the Presidential Library dedicated to Maxim Gorky. Thus, the collection Maxim Gorky (1868-1936) includes digital copies of books, periodicals, archival documents, postcards, photographs, as well as texts of his own works of art, articles and memoirs. By the anniversary of the writer, the collection was entered with new, previously little-known archival materials.

At the end of the event the pupils were also told about the Olympiad Russia in the Electronic World in history, social science and the Russian language, which is held annually by the Presidential Library.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Penza Region: Pages of History. It includes archival documents, essays, studies, statistical and other materials covering various aspects of the development of the region in different historical periods.
