The Presidential Library and the Government of Kurgan Region develop cooperation

On June 16, 2023, the Presidential Library subordinate to the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation and the Government of Kurgan Region signed a plan of joint measures to use the information and educational potential of the library in the region for 2023-2025.

The ceremony was held within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The document was signed by Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library, and Vadim Shumkov, Governor of Kurgan Region. The signing of the agreement took place in the presence of Sergey Grinevich, Head of the Information and Communication Technologies Department of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation.

“Within the framework of the “roadmap”, it is planned to open new remote access centers to the Presidential Library’s resources in leading educational and cultural institutions, including model libraries”, Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library, said. The Presidential Library has also committed itself to information support of key events in the field of education, culture, youth policy and information technology in Kurgan Region.

Special attention will be paid to the issues of popularization of the library’s information resources. It is planned to distribute on the territory of Kurgan Region exhibition projects based on materials from the Presidential Library’s collections in digital format, including the ones related to World War II.

“The signed document is a continuation of many years of joint work. The Presidential Library is the country’s largest repository of materials on the history of Russia. These are hundreds of thousands of documents, sources of historical truth, which we urgently need in the modern period. Therefore, cooperation with the Presidential Library for us is, first of all, additional opportunities for the work carried out in the region on patriotic education. The resource of the Presidential Library opens up unique opportunities for online exhibitions, presentations and other educational events for young people”, Vadim Shumkov, Governor of Kurgan Region, stressed.

It should be noted that the signed action plan was a continuation of the existing partnership relations between the parties, which have been successfully developing for many years. Thus, in 2017, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Presidential Library and the Government of Kurgan Region. More than 20 electronic reading rooms have been opened on the basis of regional libraries and educational institutions, and a Regional Centre of the Presidential Library has been operating in the Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Scientific Library since 2020.
