Alexander Nevsky's military victories at a video lecture in the Presidential Library

On April 18, 2024, as part of the video lecture "Knowledge about Russia" a lecture "Military victories of Alexander Nevsky" was held in the Presidential Library. It was dedicated to the great commander who did not lose a single battle.

Roman Sokolov, Vice-rector for Educational Activities and Youth Policy, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Russian History from ancient Times to the beginning of the XIX century, A.I. Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University, addressed the participants of the event.

The lecturer spoke about the biography, military and diplomatic activities of Alexander Nevsky. With a help of historical sources, as well as the latest research, the most important events of the era were considered, the outcome of which was determined by the participation of the prince in them. Special attention was paid to the Neva and Ice Battles, the historical context of these battles, and their study today.

It was also discussed the relations of the Russian principalities with the Golden Horde, the interaction of the grand ducal and ecclesiastical authorities and many other aspects of Russia's foreign and domestic policy in the XIII century.

Roman Sokolov also addressed the issue of the initial stage of the formation of the historiс memory of Alexander Nevsky as a saint and national hero.
