On the eve of the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, specialists of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library, based on the Lermontov Penza Regional Library, prepared the quest "The Great War – the Great Victory". Its participants were students of the fourth grade of school No. 76

During the game, it was told about the ways children helped adults during the Great Patriotic War. Students learned that schoolchildren worked on collective farms and in factories, visited wounded soldiers who were healed in rear hospitals, and also made mittens, socks, scarves with their own hands.

The materials of the  Lermontov Penza Regional Library were shown to the students. These were books published by the Newspaper Stalinskoye Znamya in the forties of the XX century. In addition, the children could use the opportuniry to look through the digitized materials of the Penza Electronic Library. For example, it presents collections of poems by S. Mikhalkov "Mother", S. Davydov "Homeland", A. Tvardovsky "The Ballad of Moscow".

Students learned about military professions, about the difficult service during the war of soldiers and scouts, engineers and snipers, tankers and pilots. During the game, the children also had to try themselves as cryptographers.

In the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library, students read poems from the war years published in the magazine "Murzilka" (1942). Among them are the works of V. Granov "How Fritz had lunch", A. Pogorelovsky "The Story of one Bomb", Lieutenant M. Maksimov "The Hare-sapper".

According to the results of the quest, the Sappers team became the winner. They have successfully passed all the tests, showing erudition, physical dexterity and brilliant wit in the game.

The collection Penza Region: Pages of History is available on the portal of the Presidential Library. It includes archival documents, essays, research, statistical and other materials covering various aspects of the region's development in different historical periods.
