On the occasion of the Day of Russia the Presidential Library presented unique materials on an evolvement of Russian statehood

Shortly before the celebrated on June 12 Day of Russia the Presidential Library presented on its website the documents and materials related to this important for the whole country holiday.

The Presidential Decree of Boris Yeltsin bestowed the Day of adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation a status of the state holiday on June 2, 1994. On 16 June 1998 the holiday was renamed into the Day of Russia, but officially it has received the new name only on the 1st of February 2002, when the provisions of the new Labor Code came into force.

Especially valuable in the Presidential Library stock is an inaugural copy of the Constitution, on which the heads of our state take an oath, in electronic format. Principal Law is in free access on a website of the country's first national electronic library. Everyone who is interested can get acquainted with its text in digital version, and more over - to observe the issue in detail, to see the binding and cover decorations. The binding of original copy of the Constitution is made from fine leather of red color, on its cover is laid on silver coat of arms of Russia and embossed with gold inscription - "The Constitution of the Russian Federation." The historical documents related to the final stages of work on the draft of the 1993 Constitution are also available in this section. Presented in the open access collection entitled The Constitution of the Russian Federation. 1993 contains the digital copies of official documents, as well as the researches, social and political journalism, memoirs, and video. Among these items is The Russian President's Decree № 1845 on the Draft of Constitution of the Russian Federation submitted to a plebiscite. According to this document the draft text of the Constitution is handed for a publication in the "Russian News" and "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" newspapers, the ITAR-TASS agency, as well as for release in general circulation at "Legal Literature" publishing. The Russian President Boris Yeltsin signed the decree on November 6, 1993.

The main task of our country is the patriotic upbringing of the younger generation. A significant contribution to this endeavor falls on the Electronic Museum of the Constitutional History of Russia. Its activities are aimed at preserving the historical heritage of national constitutionalism for future generations. At present, the virtual museum includes more than 5.5 thousand minutes of video and audio recordings, about 500 photos and 5 thousand scanned copies of original archival documents, more than 400 scientific publications and more than 200 3D-images of authentic artifacts related to Russian constitutional history since XVIII century to the present day.

Shortly before the Day of Russia the Presidential Library held a number of events. In early June, "I am a Young Citizen" interactive lesson for the students of 7-9 classes was held here on site. As part of the lesson the students learned about the history of the youngest national holiday in our country, about the history of the Russian Constitution. In class the young citizens of the Russian Federation found out about their rights and responsibilities and got familiar with the collection of the Electronic Museum of the Constitutional History of Russia.

Another interesting project of the Presidential Library was introduced in 2016. “The Presidential Chronicle” is a unique collection of documents and materials, the credentials of the 25-year history of development of the institute of presidency in Russia. The Presidential Library has shaped a collection reviewing a daily work of the head of state, showing the symbols of presidential power and a personal library of the President. The first in Russia national electronic library stock includes the unique photographs and newsreel footage, rare documents, previously kept in special archives.

The Presidential Library fund contains more than 450 thousand units. It includes digital copies of archival documents, rare editions, audio and video recordings, photographs, theses and other sources related to the long history of the Russian state, the theory and practice of law, and also to the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation.
