The Presidential Library will participate in the conference dedicated to 120th anniversary of Western Siberia River Shipping Company

On December 18, 2017, at 10 am (MSK), the Presidential Library will participate in the presentation of the interregional educational project dedicated to “120 Years to the West Siberian River Shipping Company”. The event is held jointly with the Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library. The conference will be aired live on the Presidential Library website under Live Broadcast.

The Presidential Library is in constant dialogue with the regions. Owing to an extensive digital fund, which currently numbers about 600 thousand entries, many themes can be studied in detail basing on archival documents. Among them is the history of the native shipping. Such as, for instance, a collection of resolutions of the Russian legislation on shipbuilding, shipping and the shipping company particularizes on the rights and duties of each involved in this industry, from the founder to the sailor. In addition, there are some rare photographs and postcards with the types of passenger ships. At the event will be told more about dedicated to the history of the river shipping materials, which can be found in the Presidential Library.

The main goal of the project is to show the history of the West Siberian River Shipping Company on the basis of printed editions and illustrations in the funds of regional libraries, archives and other organizations. These documents will be presented on the interactive exhibition entitled “120 Years to the West Siberian River Shipping Company.” As part of the discussion, experts will talk about the development of the shipping company in their regions. Participants will learn about the history of the Surgut river port and the Tomsk shipping, the Tyumen “The Royal Embarcadero” Museum and much more.

Specialists of the Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library, Altai Regional Universal Scientific Library named after V. Y. Shishkov, the Surgut Central City Library named after A. S. Pushkin, the Tomsk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after A. S. Pushkin, the Tyumen Regional Scientific Library named after D. I. Mendeleyev will join the event in the video-conferencing mode.
