Turkish children got familiar with traditions of New Year holidays in Russia

On January 9 and 11, the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Ankara hosted meetings with pupils and teachers of the children's pre-school establishment “Chekirdek Juva”.

The event timed to the celebration of the New Year and Christmas in Russia was attended by more than 50 children aged 5-6 years.

Greeting the young guests, Enver Sheikhov, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office, congratulated everyone on the coming New Year, talked about projects for children organized by the mission, and invited kindergarten students to take part in the creative studios of the RCSC: theatrical, musical, and artistic.

A multimedia presentation was held for children as well as a video about the celebration of the New Year and Christmas in Russia was shown.

Teachers of the Methodological Center of the Russian language RCSC told young guests about the culture, sights, traditions and state symbols of Russia, showed animated films about the Russian winter. Children watched with interest the New Year and Christmas series of the cartoon "Masha and the Medved", which tell about traditional winter Russian holidays. Guests also visited the library, played multimedia cognitive games, painted a traditional Russian doll - matryoshka.

The portal of the Presidential Library presents an electronic collection "New Year and Christmas in Russia". The collection presents the main legislative acts and studies related to these winter holidays, their description in historical sources, award sheets, congratulatory letters, ancient and modern calendars, pre-revolutionary and Soviet postcards.
