Historical hour "Crimean hero of the Battle of Stalingrad" was held in Simferopol

Within the framework of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Battle of Stalingrad on February 1, 2018, the historical hour "The Crimean Hero of the Battle of Stalingrad" took place at the regional center of the Presidential Library, acting on the basis of the I. Y. Franco Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library.

The event was attended by teachers and pupils of the Taurida College of the V. I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University, readers and guests of the library. The colleagues from the Black Sea centralized library system joined the network online.

Welcoming speech was made by the grandson of the Hero of the Soviet Union Vasily Akimovich Gorishny Vasily Alexandrovich. He told about the severe trials of the war years and the deeds of his grandfather. Colonel in retirement, chairman of the Crimean republican organization of veterans (pensioners) frontier guards Victor Dmitrievich Mushimansky shared his memories of the Battle of Stalingrad, emphasized the importance of the historical events under discussion, especially for the younger generation.

A strong emotional addition was the recitation of Aurika Ischuk poem "Wait for me, and I'll be back" by K. Simonov.

A special interest of the participants was caused by the review of the historical and documentary exposition "You are in memory and heart, Stalingrad", which was conducted by specialists of the city subscription department.

The Republic of Crimea is presented on the Presidential Library portal with the collection  "Republic of Crimea: Pages of History". The selection includes studies, essays, archival documents, photographs and other materials that introduce the administrative, socio-economic, socio-political and cultural development of the peninsula from the earliest times to the beginning of the XX century.
