The centers of remote access of the Presidential Library to be opened in the Sverdlovsk region

Immediately 14 centers of remote access to the resources of the Presidential Library will be opened in the Sverdlovsk region. This was announced today, February 28, 2018, as part of the launch of the “Big Information Yekaterinburg” project. It is implemented with the support of the Municipal Association of Libraries of the City.

Representatives of the state authorities of Yekaterinburg, heads of cultural institutions of the Sverdlovsk region, as well as representatives of the media and media community took part in the solemn event.

In his video greeting, the Director General of the Presidential Library Alexander Vershinin congratulated the participants of the event on the launch of the "Big Information Yekaterinburg" project. "It demonstrates the successes of the Ural people in the continuous modernization of libraries in accordance with the well-known strategic Urals plan "Library XXI Century", - noted Alexander Vershinin.

The Presidential Library and the Sverdlovsk region strengthen partnership relations from year to year. In the territory of the region, the centers for remote access to information resources of the library are open in a wide variety of structures: public authorities, universities, military schools, innovation centers and, of course, libraries - 11 points in total. All these institutions share the desire to expand the spatial access to information, to provide opportunities to search for and obtain complete and reliable knowledge.

Thanks to the work of remote electronic reading rooms, residents of the Sverdlovsk region have access to the rich scientific, cultural and historical heritage of Russia in electronic format. Today the digital library of the Presidential Library contains more than 600 thousand units of storage. Among them - unique materials, archival documents reflecting the history of Russian statehood, theory and practice of law, as well as Russian as a state language of the Russian Federation. The collection "Sverdlovsk region: pages of history" is of special interest. It contains electronic copies of studies, essays and photographs of the XIX - early XX century. Materials are introduced to the geographical, demographic, socio-economic and socio-political aspects of the history of the region.
