Presidential Library marks the Day of Family, Love and Faithfulness

On July 8th, Russia celebrates the Day of Family, Love, and Faithfulness. This official holiday was established in 2022 when Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree titled About the Day of the Family, Love, and Faithfulness. The document states that the holiday was created in order to promote traditional family values and the spiritual and moral upbringing of children and young people. By decree, 2024 was declared the Year of the Family in Russia.

Peter the Great called the victory in the Battle of Poltava "The Great Victory", in which Russia for the first time showed and realized its strength that had been shackled for many centuries. On July 8, 315 years ago, the largest battle of the Northern War took place, 7 kilometers from the city of Poltava, between Russian troops led by Peter I and Swedish troops led by Charles XII.

Presidential Library celebrates 20th anniversary of Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God's return to Russia

On July 9th, the Orthodox world will be celebrating a great church holiday - the Day of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God. This year, the celebrations will be especially significant, as it marks the 20th anniversary of the return of one of the most revered Orthodox icons to Russia.

During the Great Patriotic War, the Tikhvin icon was taken to Riga and then to the United States, where it remained for 60 years before returning to its rightful place in the Tikhvin Dormition Monastery in Russia.

On July 2nd, 2024, a second methodological seminar titled "80 Years of Operation Bagration: The Liberation of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic" took place in Moscow at the Reserve Center of the Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, under the theme of "Key Points of Historical Memory". The event was organized by the National Center of Historical Memory under the President in cooperation with the Presidential Library.

On July 2nd, 2024, the World War II in Archival Documents collection on the Presidential Library's portal was updated with more than 100 new documents from Soviet intelligence agencies. These materials cover the period between November 1942 and November 1944, and they are stored in the Archives of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (SVR).
