The Presidential Library Regional Center hosts “Biblionoch”
April 20, the Presidential Library Regional Center, operating on the basis of the National Library of the Republic of Komi, participated in the "Biblionoch" action. This year's theme was chosen "Bedtime Stories": they arranged a fairy-tale championship in reading aloud "Pobesenki".
Professional readers, and simple lovers of reading participated in the championship. Singers, actors, artists and other experts were among the jury.
The audience together with the main character Marfushenka got into the hut to the baba Yoma (Baba Yaga in Komi folklore) and her son Vorkotonay, who has a bad character and who tries to eat someone. Fairy-tale characters are taken from T. Lombina's story "Birch bark box with northern lights". According to the terms of the fairy tale, so that the worst does not happen, the guests entertained Vorkotonay with fairy tales, bylinas and poems.
The best readers received diplomas and valuable prizes. After the championship, some guests read excerpts from various books, folk tales, classics in the Komi language, and so on.
On the website of the Presidential Library the region is represented by the collection "The Republic of Komi: Pages of History". The selection includes studies, essays, archival documents, photographs and phonograms reflecting the administrative, socio-economic and ethnographic position of the territories which are now part of the republic. The present constitution of the region is also presented.
