Today, May 31, 2018, the Presidential Library hosted a video lecture from the series "Knowledge of Russia" on "Education, Science, Church: Joint Responses to the Challenges of Modern Civilization". The event was organized in the framework of the International Scientific Conference on the Day of Remembrance of St. Luke, Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea, Professor V. F. Voino-Yasenetsky and linked St. Petersburg and Simferopol.

Secretary of the Simferopol and Crimean Diocese, rector of the Petro-Pavlovsky Cathedral of Simferopol, Archpriest Alexander Yakushechkin noted that today it was very important to talk about the legacy of St. Luke, who gave his life to serving people: "Dreaming to become an artist, St. Luke became a doctor. In the most dramatic period in the history of our country, he made a sacrificial choice in favor of loving his neighbor, who needed his help. Over the years, internally, we have lost a lot, but looking at the spiritually rich life path of a saint, we can return it".

During the video lecture, which took place through the video conference format, representatives of the clergy, honored doctors, scientists and teachers discussed such pressing issues as the interaction of society, state and church at the present stage, Christian education and psychology, the combination of science and religion through ethical, moral, worldview aspects of the heritage of St. Luke.

The Presidential Library has successfully been developing cooperation with the Crimea for several years. The Regional Center for Access to the Resources of the Presidential Library is located in Simferopol in the I. Y. Franco Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library. In Sevastopol, several electronic reading rooms are open and function successfully. Today, residents and guests of the peninsula regularly participate in teleconferences, webinars, conferences and other events organized by the Presidential Library. Within the framework of the cooperation agreement signed with the international children's center "Artek" in June 2017, a series of joint video lectures devoted to the most important events in the history of Russia is held. In addition, the schoolchildren of the Crimea take an active part in the educational project of the Presidential Library - the All-Russian Olympiad "Russia in the Electronic World". There is an exchange of cultural resources: in the Livadia Palace a year ago the exposition of the first color photographs of the Russian Empire "Russia's Expanses in Color Photography by Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky" from the Presidential Library collections was exhibited, the works of Crimean artists are regularly exhibited in the building on the Senatskaya Square in St. Petersburg.

The Presidential Library as a center for storing documents on the history of Russian statehood pays much attention to materials that tell about the history of the Russian Orthodox Church. In electronic form, readers can access such unique publications as The Ostromir Gospel, Eleazar Gospel, rare books about saints and work of clergy. The Presidential Library portal features thematic collections "History of the Russian Orthodox Church", "Orthodox Russia. Monasteries and Icons" and others. The work on the digitization of the archives of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, the Alexander-Svirsky Monastery, the documents of the Holy Synod, which from 1837 to 1917 was located in the building where the Presidential Library is housed today, is continued.
