The Presidential Library takes an active part in the events timed to FIFA World Cup, which is underway in Russia.

On June 28 at 11 a.m. journalists accredited at “Press-center 2018” will join “Presidential Library – marking FIFA World Cup” press-tour. The event will see a start of a virtual tour around the Presidential Library timed to the FIFA World Cup which focuses on the institution’s highlights. Thus, journalists will be the first to see and experience the new project of the Presidential Library, that will unite reality and virtual space to acquaint the participants with the historical building at Senate Square, 3 – both online as well as a part of a tour program.

Guests will have a chance to see the restored interiors of the Holy Synod built in the second quarter of the 19th century by Carlo Rossi, discover the building’s history and architecture, and visit modern halls aimed for holding public and state events: the conference hall and the multimedia transformer-hall featuring cutting-edge technical equipment.

Visitors will also attend thematic exhibitions. One of them has been prepared to spotlight the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The exhibition illustrates the important milestones in the history of Russian football, shows the way this sport has been developing in our country. Another exhibition launched by the Presidential Library focuses on the first Russian circumnavigation headed by Ivan Krusenstern. A permanent exposition in the Constitution hall unveils the history of constitutional ideas in Russia, and highlights the adoption of the Constitution of the Russian Federation – the country’s basic law.

The excursion involves presentation of the library’s electronic holdings in the electronic reading room and on its website. Books and periodicals, archival historical papers, newsreels, scientific and educational films and much more make up the library holdings, totaling over 600 thousand storage units.

Participants are expected to arrive and meet the tour guides at 10:45 a.m. in the Presidential Library’s main foyer (Senate Square, 3).

It is also worth noting that to celebrate the FIFA World Cup the Presidential Library has built up «Sport in Russia» collection, which currently exceeds 800 items. The centerpiece of the collection is a section about football. It includes both historical and current materials.
