History of Russia: Exhibition “Catherine’s heroes. In commemoration of 250th anniversary of the beginning of the Russo-Turkish War of 1768-1774” launched in the Central Naval Museum

The Central Naval Museum (St. Petersburg) has mounted the exhibition “Catherine’s heroes. In commemoration of 250th anniversary of the beginning of the Russo-Turkish War of 1768-1774”.

It is not just the uniform of different naval ranks during the time of Catherine II that the paintings, old drawings and statuettes present. They represent Russian sailors — from an admiral to a seaman — who managed to overcome severe hardships and due to their persistence and courage won great victories. The current exhibition is dedicated to all of them – Catherine’s heroes, who turned Russia into the maritime power, and made the “Catherine’s century” known as a glorious epoch in the history of the Russian Navy.

The exhibition will run until December 20, 2018.
