Museums of Russia abroad: The State Hermitage presents two exhibitions in Venice

As part of the cooperation between the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and Venice two different exhibitions have been staged in Venice – one in a gallery in Mestre, which is located in the “mainland” part of the Italian city, and the other in one of the palaces of Venice.

The Candiani Cultural Centre is holding the exhibition “Venice and Saint Petersburg. Artists, Princes and Merchants”. There are around 60 artworks on display, which date from the 16th-17th centuries, including masterpieces by Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese, Canaletto and Tiepolo. Among paintings, drawings, sketches there are also the works of the Italian architect Giacomo Quarenghi (1744-1818), who designed several buildings in the northern capital of Russia. The exhibition will run until March 24.

The second exhibition “Futuruins” – ruins of the future - is on in the Palazzo Fortuny.
