The Suvorov State Memorial Museum (St. Petersburg) has mounted the exhibition “Heroes of the Turkish Gambit. Marking 140th anniversary of the end of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878”.
The celebrated portrait of the famous White general Mikhail Skobelev by N. Ye. Sverchkov, that has not gone on display for 25 years, will be presented for the first time after restoration. The exhibition also displays paintings, which show other renowned military commanders of that time: M. I. Dragomirov, I. V. Gurko, portraits of Emperor Alexander II, his brother Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich of Russia, who commanded the Russian Army in the Balkans, M. A. Milyutin, A. A. Suvorov, and Osman Pasha.
