The Center of Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library (Moscow) presents an exhibition of books in rare and extinct languages, which is dedicated to the International Mother Language Day. The International Mother Language Day was proclaimed at the 30th session of UNESCO’s General Conference and is celebrated on February 21. It is observed to promote linguistic and cultural diversity.
The Center of Oriental Literature holds an extensive collection of publications in 234 languages of peoples of Asian and African countries. By tradition, it celebrates the Mother Language Day by mounting seminars and displays of books in rare and extinct languages.
