World History and Culture: "Tapan Armenian Museum's Antiquities in the Hermitage" exhibition opened in Saint-Petersburg

17 February 2020

February 15, 2020, the "Tapan Armenian Museum's Antiquities in the Hermitage" exhibition was opened in the Winter Palace (The State Hermitage Museum, Saint-Petersburg), in the halls of culture and art of Armenia. It was organized by the State Hermitage Museum, the Tapan Armenian Museum (Moscow) and the Russia and New Nakhichevan eparchy of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

The museum's name itself is very symbolic: "tapan" means "ark" in Armenian. “Tapan” in this sense of word is a kind of guardian of the history and culture of Armenia and also the entire human cultural heritage.

The exhibition features unique historical monuments of the pre-Christian period and invaluable Christian relics from the main exposition of the Tapan Armenian Museum.

The main exhibits are one of the greatest relics of the entire Christian world - the Cross with a part of the True Cross, relics of saints, as well as ancient bronze monuments - ritual belts and daggers.
