Society and Book Culture: Moscow to host the 37th IBBY International Congress

On February 17, 2020, the first meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the 37th International Board on Books for Young People International Congress took place in the House of the Government of the Russian Federation. The Congress will be held in Moscow on September 5-7, 2020.

Russia will be the venue for the International Congress for the first time since the IBBY National section foundation (1968).

The Moscow Forum theme is "Great Big World Through Children’s Books: National and Foreign Literature - Role, Value, Impact on Young Readers in Different Countries".

It is expected that more than a thousand authors, children's books illustrators, translators, publishers, librarians from 80 countries will take part in the congress.

The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) was founded in Zurich in 1953. IBBY awards books' authors and illustrators for children and youth the Hans Christian Andersen Award. It will be given on April 2, on the day of the writer's birth, which is declared as the International Children's Book Day.
