Former President of Finland visited the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Helsinki

Tarja Halonen, President of Finland from 2000 to 2012, together with her husband visited the interactive exhibition of archival materials “A tree is judged by its fruits: Alexey Kosygin and Urho Kekkonen. Friendship outside of time”, displayed at the Russian Center of Science and Culture  in Helsinki.

The exhibition is timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of business and friendly relations between two prominent politicians, Alexei Nikolaevich Kosygin and Urho Kaleva Kekkonen. The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR and the President of Finland demonstrated to the world a successful model of relations between statesmen.

The exposition of the honored guests was introduced by the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Finland, Pyotr Yakhmenev. Tarja Halonen made an entry about her visit to the exhibition in the book of honorary guests of the RCSC.

The Presidential Library’s portal features electronic collection "Russia - Finland: The history of Relationship". It includes studies, official and archival documents, cartographic and visual materials revealing the geographical, economic and legal position of Finland from ancient times to the beginning of the twentieth century, most of the period of joining the Russian Empire as the Grand Duchy of Finland, as well as materials reflecting the current state of relations between our countries. The documents of the national electronic repository are available in full in the centers of remote access to the information resources of the Presidential Library located in various countries of the world.

On October 22, 2020, as part of the XI Annual Integration Forum, the Presidential Library hosted the grand opening of the exhibition "Russia - Finland: Marking the 100th anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Contacts". The institution’s portal provides a virtual tour of the exposition, which will be available to all those interested in the history of relations between Russia and Finland.
