The Presidential Library acquired a copy of the Decree by Empress Anna Ioannovna of 1731 on the establishment of the Cadet Corps

On April 7, 2021, the Presidential Library hosted the conference "Cadet Day in the Presidential Library". During the event, Alexander Bukreev, the Head of the Information Historical and Scientific Centre - Military Historical Library of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, gifted to the Presidential Library a copy of the decree by Empress Anna Ioannovna of July 29, 1731, on the establishment of the Cadet Corps.

"This year marks the 290th anniversary of the decree by Anna Ioannovna. Allow me now to present a copy of the handwritten decree to the Presidential Library. We also provide a digital copy of this historical document", highlighted Alexander Bukreev.

The conference "Cadet Day at the Presidential Library" is a traditional annual event since 2015.

This year, the conference participants were students of the Nakhimov Naval School, the St. Petersburg Cadet Corps "Girls' Boarding School of the Ministry of Defenсe of the Russian Federation", the St. Petersburg University of State Fire Service of Emercom of Russia, the St. Petersburg Suvorov Military School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Also, representatives of military schools from Vladivostok, Kemerovo, Moscow, Murmansk, Kaliningrad and other Russian cities joined the Presidential Library's event via video conference.

"We are pleased to provide technical and organizational support for today's event. We hope that it will contribute to the further development of our cadets in the investigation of the theory and practice of Russian statehood, history and Russian as the state language of the Russian Federation. It is the main task of the Presidential Library as the institution of the Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation", - said Pavel Tereshchenko, the Acting General Director of the Presidential Library.

In turn, Vsevolod Khmyrov, a graduate of the Nakhimov Naval School, Hero of the Russian Federation, retired Navy Admiral, accented that it was difficult to overestimate the significance of military schools and cadet corps. They have well-qualified teachers and tutors who provide students with a high-quality education. "The main goal of the Cadets, the Nakhimov and Suvorov movements is to study the civil service: to be ready to serve the state, understand and deeply respect the civil service", added the retired Admiral.

The conference highlighted the history of the establishment of Russian cadets in the XVIII century and their participation in the Suvorov campaigns. The guests of the event learned about the exploits of Lyudmila Pavlichenko, the most famous woman sniper during the Great Patriotic War. One of the conference participants revealed his family's contribution to the military history of Russia. Also, the event was devoted to the saint patron of the Russian army - Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, whose 800th anniversary is celebrated this year.

The conference was available to anyone. It was broadcasted live on the Presidential Library's portal in the Live broadcasts section and on the institution's YouTube channel.
