Book Rarities: Exhibition "Old Book as a Rare Artifact" presented at the Tver Regional Art Gallery

The exhibition "Old Book as a Rare Artifact" from the cycle "Book Treasures of the Tver Regional Art Gallery" was opened in Tver.

The precious items of the gallery are the works from the collection of rare publications. It includes the most valuable rarities not only in content but also in book design and quality of illustration. They made the book a full representative of the general museum collections, along with works of fine art.

The museum book collection includes unique publications on the history and theory of art. Among them is the Dictionary of Russian Artists... - a lifelong work by art historian Nikolai Sobko (1851-1906), which he began when he was 16 years old. The multivolume edition contains life histories, bibliographic lists and images of Russian masters. Today it is of great value for art specialists.

These and many other rare publications are a treasure of the Tver Regional Art Gallery; some books are showcased for the first time.

The exhibition will run until the end of 2021.
