“For bravery and courage. For Valorous Labor”. The Presidential Library’s video lecture marked Victory Day

5 May 2022

On May 5, 2022 the Presidential Library hosted a video lecture dedicated to Victory Day as part of the Knowledge of Russia project.

Pavel Semyonov, a man of unique destiny, performed at the event. He went to fight at the age of 11: the Nazis shot his parents and the boy joined the partisans in Leningrad Region, ended up in a concentration camp, from where he escaped after 8 months. It was he who became the prototype for the creation of the monument "Sea cadets of the Baltic Fleet", installed on Vasilyevsky Island in St. Petersburg. Pavel Semyonov is a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a graduate of the Kronstadt Sea Cadet School, midshipman of the fleet, torpedo pilot, miner and author of heartfelt autobiographical poems.

Hero of Socialist Labor, member of the Union of Writers of Russia, holder of the sign "The World’s Influential Woman" Tatyana Zakharova told video lecture participants about her life and career. At the age of seventeen, she restored Leningrad destroyed by bombing and shelling, worked at a construction site, sawed wood at logging sites. She is the author of dozens of books, stories and articles. The content of one of the books - "Unbroken" - consists of a direct conversation with the siege survivors, who talk about the incredible difficulties of the siege life.

Interactive lessons and video lectures are regularly held at the Presidential Library. Detailed information is available on the institution's portal in Multimedia Lessons section and in the Video lecture - for school section which features records of lectures and open lessons held at the Presidential Library.
