Exhibition dedicated to the history of suffrage opened in Ryazan

On September 6, 2022 the exhibition "The Electoral System of the Russian Federation: the Past and the Present" was opened at the Gorky Ryazan Regional Universal Scientific Library. The exposition was presented by the chief bibliographer of the institution Elena Kirillova. The exhibition features the history of the formation and development of suffrage.

Among the participants of the event were the Chairman of the Election Commission of Ryazan Region Dmitry Bokov and the head of the monitoring group of the Public Headquarters for Election Observation in Ryazan Region of the Regional Public Chamber, an expert of the Association "Independent Public Monitoring in the Ryazan Region" Alexander Selivanov.

The exhibition was also visited by law students of the Ryazan Yesenin State University and the Ryazan Pedagogical College.

The exposition features documents from the collections and archives of the Electoral Commission of Ryazan Region, the Gorky Regional Library and the Presidential Library. Among the exhibits are books, posters, periodicals and other materials. At the opening ceremony, an educational video film of the Presidential Library Voter's Alphabet was also shown at the opening ceremony.  

The Gorky Regional Library regularly uses the materials of the Presidential Library’s electronic collections when implementing exhibition projects. Employees of the Ryazan Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the institution also take an active part in organizing expositions. Historical documents, old manuscripts, photo albums, newspapers and books, selected with their participation, make exhibitions more informative.
