
A meeting dedicated to the first three times Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Pokryshkin held at the Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library
The Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library hosted a round table "Siberian Falcon: Preservation of the historical memory of Alexander Pokryshkin", timed to coincide with the 110th anniversary of the famous fellow countryman, Air Marshal, the first three times Hero of the Soviet Union.
The meeting was moderated by the deputy director of the library for scientific and library activities Vladimir Deev. Oleg Kationov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Dean of the Institute of History, Humanities and Social Education of the Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, addressed the event participants - cadets of the Siberian Aviation Cadet Corps and students of gymnasium №10 - with a welcoming speech, who emphasized the importance of continuing research into the life and career of A. I. Pokryshkin.
The event was opened with a speech entitled “Our fellow countryman Alexander Pokryshkin: memorial sights in the Novosibirsk agglomeration” Andrey Verkhov, the leading bibliographer of the local history department, who also noted the projects of the regional scientific library to preserve the memory of the ace pilot: “Electronic Library of Marshal A. I. Pokryshkin”, “City owl” and others.
Associate Professor of the Department of Patriotic and General History of the Institute of History, Humanitarian and Social Education of Novosibirsk Vladimir Bayandin in his speech showed the unique illustrative materials of Alexei Zakalyuk. His paintings are not an artistic fiction about the exploits of Pokryshkin. Alexei Zakalyuk captured the battles that he saw with his own eyes, being a participant in the Great Patriotic War.
Head of the Regional Center for Pre-Conscription Youth of the Siberian Aviation Cadet Corps. A. I. Pokryshkin Alexander Obidin spoke about the work of the Pokryshkin Museum in an educational organization, its activities, as well as little-known facts from the biography of the legendary pilot.
Head of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library of the Franco Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library Marina Meresidi presented a video message about the Kachin Military Aviation Pilot School. A. F. Myasnikov and memorial sites dedicated to A. I. Pokryshkin in Republic of Crimea.
Head of the Department of Information Technologies and Information Protection of the Pushkin Krasnodar Regional Universal Scientific Library Sergey Veremyev made a report “In the fiery sky and bronze (three times Hero of the Soviet Union A. I. Pokryshkin)”, talking about the military events of 1943 in the biography of Pokryshkin and memorable places in Krasnodar Territory associated with the name of the pilot.
Deputy Dean for Research Vitaliy Razumny and Deputy Dean for Educational Work of the Faculty of History of Donetsk National University Yury Skvortsov spoke about the Donbas offensive operation of 1943, memorial places in Makeevka and Mariupol, and also announced the opening of memorial plaques to A. I. Pokryshkin in Donetsk in September 2023.
The interregional round table was completed by the head of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library of the Gorky Tver Regional Universal Scientific Library Galina Komarova. The report “Siberian Falcon on Tver land: Preservation of the historical memory of Alexander Pokryshkin” spotlighted little-studied facts from the biography of the air marshal - the post-war period of his career in the 88th air defence fighter aviation corps in the city of Rzhev, and also mentioned memorial places - the house in which the Pokryshkin family lived; the cathedral, which Alexander Ivanovich defended from parsing into bricks; nominal stele on the Alley of Heroes; bust on the territory of the Rzhev garrison, etc.
Until April 20, 2023 the Presidential Library has opened the electronic exhibition "Siberian Falcon", timed to coincide with the 110th anniversary of the pilot, the first three times Hero of the Soviet Union, Air Marshal Alexander Ivanovich Pokryshkin. The exposition is based on the materials of the Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library, together with which the exhibition was prepared.
