– It is very important that the Presidential Library and the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography of the Peoples of Far East of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences signed an agreement and will interact on the formation of a single information space in the field of domestic and world culture, science and education, as well as the preservation and promotion of historical and cultural heritage of Russia”, - noted Sergei Grinevich, head of the Information and Communication Technologies Department of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, in his welcoming speech.
The Presidential Library’s Director General Yuri Nosov emphasized that “it is planned to hold joint scientific, educational and cultural conferences, workshops, exhibitions, research contests and other events. In addition, the possibility of exchanging documents to enter the electronic collections of our institutions is being considered”.
Director of the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography of the Peoples of Far East Nikolai Kradin, in turn, said: “I am very pleased to sign an agreement with the Presidential Library. Far East is the largest region of Russia in terms of territory. But our citizens, especially young people, do not have a good idea of what this region is, how it was settled and developed. Our common goal is to make scientific knowledge about its history and culture accessible to all residents of our country”.
The Presidential Library actively cooperates with more than 200 scientific, research and educational centers, universities, academies, and institutes. Many of them have opened remote access centers, where users can get full access to the Presidential Library’s collections, which include a variety of materials on Russian history. Joint scientific conferences, round tables, exhibitions and other events are held. Of special significance is the cooperation with organizations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, such as the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences and others. The Presidential Library’s collections include a major digital collection “The Academy of Sciences and the Formation of Russian Science”, dedicated to the Russian Academy of Sciences, its great history, modern activities and research achievements.
