Scientific and educational project "Great Russia" – on the Presidential Library's portal
On Russia Day, the Presidential Library invites it's readers to explore the scientific and educational project Great Russia, which is available on the library's portal and is being implemented under the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the approval of the foundations of state policy for the preservation and promotion of traditional Russian values.
The project was created and is being filled with information resources based on documents from the Presidential Library's collection and those of its partners.
Russia is a great country with a rich history that spans thousands of years. The Russian land has produced many world-famous writers, poets, composers, musicians, artists, scientists, architects, inventors, engineers, and cosmonauts. These individuals have made significant contributions to the development of both Russian and world science and culture, often far ahead of their time.
The main goal of the new Presidential Library project is to preserve the national memory, promote patriotism, and connect people with the great history and culture of Russia and its scientific and spiritual heritage.
The Great Russia project consists of several sections. One of them is the Collections section, which includes thematic collections of documents and materials such as Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia, Year of Theater in Russia, Marking the Year of Russian Cinema, Russian Inventions: Pages of History, Development of Arctic,Outer Space, Russian Literature: Current Studies, Russian Voyages Round-the-World Trips in the First Half of 19th Century, and collections dedicated to prominent Russian statesmen, politicians, military figures, public figures, church leaders, scientists, cultural figures, and artists.
Other sections of the Great Russia project include articles about the lives and works of outstanding scientists and inventors from the 17th to 20th centuries, starting with Andrei Chokhov, the creator of the Tsar Cannon, as well as cultural figures such as writers, poets, architects, artists, composers, musicians, dancers, and other creative individuals.
The Great Russia project is regularly updated, and in the future, a section on Travelers and Discoverers is planned. This will allow visitors to the Presidential Library's portal to learn even more about historical figures who have contributed significantly to the development of Russia.
